About Me

About Vida

I was born and raised in Minneapolis, where theater and the arts shaped my early years. At 15, I was accepted into the world-renowned Children’s Theater, and through dance, performance, and my first introduction to yoga and meditation, I began to understand that creativity was more than what happened on stage.

At university, I studied fine art and sociology—two threads that would weave together later in ways I couldn’t have predicted.

After years of travel, I moved to Greece to be near my family on the small island of Ammouliani. It was here that I first truly understood: creativity is not limited to the artistic process. It lives in every decision, every act of care, every breath. I met my fisherman husband, and together we raised our twin daughters, giving them the freedom to explore themselves fully through homeschooling and unschooling.

Those years at home, raising our girls, also brought me back to my own creative self. I began painting the landscapes and seascapes around me—the light, the water, the quiet. I found my first mentor, Johannes Vloothuis, who taught me the foundations of representational work. Later, I connected with Colleen Caubin, who took those foundations and helped me go deeper, into the more subtle layers of the artistic process.

Today, my work is held in private collections and represented by Paris Market in Savannah. I paint the sea, the light, and the quiet moments of this island—and I share the process openly, because I believe creativity is something we all carry.

I’m currently building a small, intentional community on Patreon for those who want to go deeper—not just into painting, but into the creative life itself. If that calls to you, you’re welcome here.
